Patrick Lane (Team Jayco Skins), took an important leap towards an international career today with his first major victory in the third stage of the GMHBA Tour of Geelong.

Lane, 18, employed a daring breakaway tactic in the 63-km criterium at Grovedale to win comfortably ahead of Cameron Peterson (Virgin Blue - RBS Morgan), and Joseph Lewis (Drapac Professional Cycling).

Lane’s win elevated him into 10th place in the tour’s 111-man field but he stressed that his key goal over the next three days was to assist his Jayco Skins teammate Rohan Dennis win the tour.

Dennis sits in 4th position overall in the general classification, 40 seconds behind overnight leader Rhys Pollock.
